Community Manager (Highland Park, IL)

Dayhouse Coworking is hiring a Community Manager (CM) to assist in the daily operations of our Highland Park space. As part of the Dayhouse team, everything you do will be in the interest of sustaining an authentic and thriving community and business.

Who are we?

Dayhouse Coworking offers serene, supportive workspaces in the Chicago suburbs. Amenities include private offices, conference rooms, mail reception, a quiet room, a lactation room, family-friendly policies, and more. We’re woman-owned, and open to all. #MakeYourDayBetter at Dayhouse! Learn more about us here.

Who are you?

You enjoy wearing many hats. You’re a details ninja, a planning maestro, and most likely a superfan of lists. You’re the connector in your social group and people are always coming to you for recommendations or feedback.

You're a natural connector, curious to learn about others, asking good questions, and instinctively introducing the right people to each other.

You’re emotionally intelligent and communicate exceptionally well, both verbally and in writing. You're poised and present yourself well. You read a room and adjust your approach as needed, making people feel both comfortable and respected. You anticipate needs and take pride in delivering a thoughtful experience, but you also know how to uphold clear boundaries with confidence and professionalism.

You’re dependable, keeping things on track, responding in a timely fashion, and maintaining a high standard for how the space looks and functions.

You’re smart and resourceful, willing to learn (and become proficient at) new technology. You think critically, and aren’t afraid to suggest improvements when something could work better.

You're experienced. You have at least two years experience in front office management, hospitality, or a related role balancing people skills with operational know-how. Bonus points for familiarity with Highland Park and the surrounding area. You understand the rhythms of the community and connect with it authentically.

What will you do?

You’ll set the tone for the Dayhouse experience. You’ll be the first impression for members and guests, ensuring every interaction is warm, personalized, and professional. You’ll initiate conversations -- building connections, understanding their businesses, personal interests, goals, and how Dayhouse can support their success.

You’ll be an on-site operations guru, staffing the site during business hours, opening and closing each day, giving tours, onboarding new members, and overseeing room rentals and day pass guests. You’ll also maintain the space, restocking supplies, doing some light cleaning and repairs, solving technical hiccups with technology, managing incoming mail, and writing daily reports.

You'll design member programming, working with the rest of the team to gauge member interest and strengths, manage on-site logistical needs, and spread the word within the Dayhouse community.

You'll help out on our social media accounts, participating in content creation for our Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts.

Most of all, you’ll guide the Dayhouse community in Highland Park and beyond, creating an environment where people feel connected, supported, and proud to belong.

What will you get?

You’ll be supported.  Our team is thoughtful and values communication, clarity, and care. You’ll have access to the resources you need, the autonomy to make smart decisions, and the backing of leadership when you need it.

You’ll get to know some tremendous people. Your network will grow to include our dynamic members, teammates, and industry colleagues.

You’ll be a part of a global movement. The coworking world has exploded from a handful of spaces to over 40,000+. Dayhouse is proud to contribute to this exciting industry. Together, we’re rethinking the way people work and live. How much of an impact you have on this movement is entirely up to you.

This is a 40 hour a week job with an occasional evening or weekend. The salary is $55k. We offer three weeks PTO, and a health insurance stipend if you need it. You’ll also receive a MacBook for both business and personal use. Beyond that, we’ll support you in shaping the role around your strengths, goals, and side pursuits, whether that’s events, marketing, or something uniquely yours.

If this sounds like you, send your resume to welcome@dayhousecoworking.com.
Include a short cover letter in the body of your email sharing three specific ways you would contribute to the Dayhouse community.

what’s with the pineapple?

This once-rare fruit was so prized, people would rent them, just to have the exotic fruit adorn their tables. Pineapples have since evolved into a symbol of warmth, welcome, and hospitality...that's the heart of Dayhouse. We encourage our members to embrace the same attitude with everyone who walks in the door.
